Lighthouse will be hosting an informational meeting for the Sons of Promise (SOP) Mentoring Ministry. SOP will be starting the 3rd year of this exceptional ministry which will run from April 2026 – April 2027 calendar year. We have seen lives IMPACTED through this ministry. SOP provides a safe and effective ministry to fatherless boys ages 6-18 by connecting them to men who care enough to pass along what it means to indeed be a man and the value of a life of obedience to God. Scripture makes it evident that it is God’s will for His Church to care for the fatherless:
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. James 1:27
One meaning of the word “visit” in the original language means, “to look upon to help or to benefit”.
We believe every fatherless boy should have at least one man of God as a role model on how to become all that Christ created him to be. We are seeking committed Christian men to be mentors.
Men 25+ we want you to come to learn more about SOP and how you can become a part of this game-changing ministry in the life of a young guy at the:
Sons of Promise Legacy Gathering

“No man is capable of self-improvement if he sees no other model but himself.”
“A lot of people have gone further than they thought they could because someone else thought they could.”
“Show me a successful individual, and I’ll show you someone who had real positive influences in his or her life.
I don’t care what you do for a living—if you do it well, I’m sure there was someone cheering you on or showing the way. A mentor.” — Denzel Washington
“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” — The Bible
A WORD TO MEN FROM PASTOR KEN
God put this ministry in our heart for a reason. It goes hand in hand with making disciples and making Jesus known. When Jesus said, “go make disciples,” he was not just talking to Pastors. All of us have this “calling” as mature Christian men, and it is the order of God to share the knowledge and experience we’ve learned and that faithfully following Jesus is the secret to life.
Mentoring is simply that…sharing about living life with those who are years behind us on the path.
Listen, God wants to use you in the lives of some younger guys in ways you can’t even imagine. He doesn’t want you to miss out on the joy, fulfillment, and FUN of connecting with younger Christians and adding value to their lives.
There is something in you that some young man needs now! Don’t allow your self-doubt, fear, and the negative opinions to stifle you or worse, rob some child. Don’t buy into the lie that you don’t have anything to offer or that you can’t make a difference. Celebrate what is working in your life. Focus on the positive and on what you can do right now. Stretch yourself to obtain all that God has for us—for your sake and the sake of others and watch God amaze you!
Love you man,
Pastor Ken
