Lighthouse is thrilled to announce the next installation of Sons of Promise (SOP) Mentoring Ministry. SOP provides a safe and effective ministry to fatherless boys ages 6-18 by connecting them to men who care enough to pass along what it means to grow into manhood and the value of a life of obedience to God. Scripture makes it evident that it is God’s will for His Church to care for the fatherless:
 

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world. James 1:27

One meaning of the word “visit” in the original language means “to look upon to help or to benefit.” 

We believe every fatherless boy should have at least one man of God as a role model on how to become all that Christ created him to be.  Mothers, if you are seeking committed Christian men to mentor your son.

God never makes a promise unless He gives us a plan.  It will not always be easy raising a son without the influence of a father.   At times you may feel like you want to break down and cry, lose your temper, or do something in the natural.  In those times, remember,
 

 But now this is what the LORD says: “Do not weep any longer, for I will reward you,” says the LORD. “Your children will come back to you from the distant land of the enemy. There is hope for your future,” says the LORD.” Jer 31:16-17
 

Mother, don’t weep; make this promise personal, and believe God for it. We stand with you!
